Over the last few weeks, we witnessed COVID-19 devastate economies around the world. The restaurant and coffee industries are amongst the hardest hit, directly impacting many of our partners and close friends. It is estimated that over 1 million Canadians that worked in the restaurant industry are now unemployed. Another staggering stat - an estimated 10 per cent of Quebec's restaurants will go under due to the COVID-19 crisis. Getting through this will require some time and social distancing measures will most likely continue for the foreseeable future.
As we continue to do our part in flattening the curve, many restaurants remain closed to the public but are still doing what they can to support our frontline workers. Social media is filled with examples of selfless acts that continue to inspire others to help. We remain committed to do what we can to support local businesses and its people during this challenging time.
In order to help navigate the effects of COVID-19, ROYALTRI is building Grmnd, a platform exclusive for restaurants and coffee shops, that will facilitate taking online orders for pickup or delivery. Merchants with existing websites can add a fully responsive checkout page, with integration for popular payment gateways (Moneris, PayPal and Stripe). Merchants without online presence can build a landing page, customized to match existing brand identity.
Grmnd will be free for an extended 90-day trial. All full-service setup fees will be waived for as long as the country is on lockdown. More info to come. Sign up to get notified at grmnd.ca.
